Ladybug Music Festival in Wilmington
The Ladybug Music Festival is a free, single-day showcase of women-led musical acts along Market Street in downtown Wilmington, founded in 2012 and billed as the largest free celebration of women in music in the United States. The late-spring event spans multiple outdoor and indoor stages and, as of December 2025, is produced by the nonprofit I.D.E.A. after more than a decade under founder Gayle Dillman.
When Gayle Dillman launched the Ladybug Music Festival in Wilmington in 2012, the concept was simple and, at the time, unusual for a music festival of any size: every act on the lineup would be women-fronted or women-led.
