Winnemucca Ranch Hand Rodeo Weekend is a northern Nevada gathering built around working ranch skills, horses, cattle and the people who use them. More than thirty teams have competed in events such as ranch bronc riding, ranch doctoring and team roping, while the dog trial and horse sale reveal different forms of selection and practical judgment. The recurring practices—working ranch team competition, cow-dog trial, and ranch and performance-horse sale—tie the public program to the place and the people who sustain it.
