The story

Festival Andresito le Canta al Pais in Andresito

Andresito le Canta al Pais is the official name of the January folk-music festival held at El Lago, a Rio Negro reservoir site in the Flores department roughly 60 kilometers north of Trinidad, drawing folk singers from across Uruguay and from abroad to the site of the former Andresito village.

Flores is Uruguay's smallest and least populous department, and its capital, Trinidad, traces its own origin to a chapel founded in the early 1800s by fray Manuel Ubeda on land donated by Ines Duran, widow of one of the area's original two large landowners.

The place changes

This entry appears to duplicate another row in this dataset (festival-del-lago-andresito-andresito-uy): both the Departamento de Flores and Trinidad (Uruguay) Wikipedia articles describe this exact festival under its full official name, Festival Del Lago, Andresito le Canta al Pais, held at the same lakeside location

02

The mystery stays covered

The festival's distinctiveness lies in pulling a genuinely national and international folk-music audience to a small reservoir site in Uruguay's least populous department, at a location named for Andresito Guazurari Artigas, a Guarani leader adopted by national founding figure Jose Artigas
