Lazgi International Dance Festival in Khiva

The Lazgi International Dance Festival has been held in Khiva every two years since 2022, usually in late April, celebrating the centuries-old Khorezm folk dance inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2019. Dance troupes perform within the walled old city of Ichan-Kala, one of Uzbekistan's best-preserved historic centers.

Lazgi is a centuries-old folk dance native to the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan, its name derived from an old word meaning to tremble, reflecting the dance's signature technique of building movement gradually from the fingers, wrists, and shoulders outward until the whole body is engaged in fast, intricate motion.
