Nghinh Ong Can Gio Festival in Can Gio
Nghinh Ong Can Gio Festival, first held in 1913, takes place on the 16th day of the eighth lunar month in Can Thanh, Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City, centered on a sea procession honoring the whale as guardian deity of local fishermen and their families.
Along the coast of Can Gio district, on the southern edge of Ho Chi Minh City, local fishermen have for more than a century turned to the sea itself as the setting for their most important annual festival.
