Da Nang Cau Ngu Festival in Coastal villages

The Cau Ngu Festival is the whale-worship festival celebrated each spring by fishing communities across Da Nang, most prominently in Tho Quang village. Held around the fourteenth to sixteenth day of the first lunar month, it honors Ca Ong, the whale deity believed to protect fishermen at sea, through solemn temple rites followed by communal celebration. Da Nang preserves more than a dozen such festivals tied to its coastal Whale Temples.

Along Da Nang's coast, spring begins not with a single citywide festival but with a string of them, one for nearly every fishing ward that keeps its own Lang Ong, or Whale Temple.
