Ha Giang Buckwheat Flower Festival runs from late September through early December, with peak blooming around mid-November, across the Dong Van Karst Plateau and neighboring Meo Vac, Yen Minh, and Quan Ba districts in Vietnam's far northern highlands near the Chinese border, at the edge of the Dong Van Karst Plateau geopark.

Each year as the rainy season recedes from Vietnam's northernmost reaches, fields across the Dong Van Karst Plateau begin filling with buckwheat, a hardy crop suited to the region's thin mountain soils, and by late September the first blooms signal the start of what has become one of northern Vietnam's most photographed seasonal events.
