Tra Que Cau Bong Festival in Hoi An
The Cau Bong Festival is the annual harvest-blessing ceremony of Tra Que, a centuries-old herb and vegetable farming village near Hoi An recognized in 2024 as one of UN Tourism's Best Tourism Villages. Held on the seventh day of the first lunar month, it asks for favorable weather and a good growing season ahead.
Tra Que village sits on a small islet between the Co Co River and its own namesake lagoon, a few kilometers from Hoi An's old town, and has farmed the same patch of alluvial, sand-flecked soil since roughly the sixteenth century.
