Phan Thiet Cau Ngu Festival in Phan Thiet
The Phan Thiet Cau Ngu Festival is the whale-worship festival centered on Van Thuy Tu Temple in Phan Thiet, Binh Thuan province, one of Vietnam's oldest such shrines, built in 1762 and home to one of the country's largest collections of preserved whale skeletons.
Along a stretch of Vietnam's south-central coast known for its fishing fleets, Van Thuy Tu Temple in Phan Thiet has anchored the local ca ong, or whale-worship, tradition since 1762, making it one of the older shrines of its kind still active in the country.
