Lam Kinh Festival in Tho Xuan
The Lam Kinh Festival is held every eighth lunar month at the Lam Kinh Special National Relic in Tho Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province, commemorating Le Loi, known as Le Thai To, his loyal general Le Lai, and the kings of the Later Le dynasty. Rites fall on the twenty-first and twenty-second days, the death anniversaries of Le Lai and Le Loi respectively.
Thanh Hoa's Lam Kinh relic complex occupies land that was, before it was a monument, simply home: Lam Son, the birthplace of Le Loi, the fifteenth-century leader who spent a decade fighting Ming occupation before defeating it and founding the Later Le dynasty in 1428.
