Lim Festival in Tien Du

Lim Festival gathers Quan Ho folk singers in Tien Du, Bac Ninh province, on the 12th and 13th days of the first lunar month. Male liền anh and female liền chị performers trade call-and-response verses across hillside tents, continuing a courtship-song tradition documented since at least the fifteenth century.

Every year, as the twelfth day of the first lunar month approaches, villages scattered across Bac Ninh's Kinh Bac region begin preparing the songs that have carried their communities' courtship customs for generations.
