Mbunda Lukwakwa Ceremony in Kabompo/Zambezi
The Mbunda Lukwakwa Traditional Ceremony is held each October in Kabompo District, North-Western Province, under Senior Chief Sikufele. It celebrates the heritage of the Mbunda people, who migrated into western Zambia from Angola in the nineteenth century, and marks their settlement along the Kabompo and Zambezi river valleys with dance, drumming and chieftaincy tradition passed down across generations.
The Mbunda Lukwakwa Traditional Ceremony takes place every October in Kabompo District, in Zambia's North-Western Province, one of several ceremonies through which the Mbunda people mark their history and chieftaincy structure.
