Kazanga Ceremony in Kaoma

Kazanga is the annual royal ceremony of the Nkoya people of Kaoma District in Zambia's Western Province, presided over by chiefs Mutondo and Kahare. Held roughly between June and August, it centers on Nkoya royal history and features the silimba, a wooden xylophone central to Nkoya music.

The Nkoya people of Zambia's Western Province, concentrated around Kaoma, Lukulu and surrounding districts, maintain their own royal chieftaincies distinct from the larger and better-known Lozi kingdom that dominates much of Western Province.
