Kulamba Ceremony in Katete/Mkaika

Kulamba is the largest annual gathering of the Chewa people, held on the last Saturday of August at Katete in Eastern Zambia to honour Paramount Chief Kalonga Gawa Undi. It draws chiefs and heads of state from Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique, and centres on the masked Nyau society dances known as gule wamkulu.
