Vingwengwe in Mbala/Mambwe-Lungu communities
Vingwengwe is a traditional dance and drumming tradition of the Mambwe and Lungu communities around Mbala, in Zambia's Northern Province, closely linked to the region's better-documented Umutomolo harvest ceremony held each June on the shores of Lake Chila. Evidence for it as a fully separate, independently scheduled festival is limited.
Vingwengwe is one of the harder entries on Zambia's traditional ceremony calendar to pin down with confidence, and this account says so directly rather than inventing detail that research did not support.
