Musaka Jikubi Ceremony in Mufumbwe/Kaonde communities
Zambia's official ceremony listings record Musaka Jikubi as a September ceremony of Kaonde chiefs Mumba and Kaindu in Mumbwa District, Central Province, rather than in Mufumbwe District, North-Western Province, as given here. Both areas are home to Kaonde communities, but the documented district differs from the one listed.
The Kaonde people of Zambia are unusual among the country's ethnic groups for having an established presence across two different provinces: the larger, more commonly cited Kaonde heartland in North-Western Province, covering districts such as Solwezi, Kasempa, Mufumbwe and Kalumbila, and a separate Kaonde chieftaincy presence in Mumbwa District, in Central Province.
