Malaila Ceremony in Namwala/Ila communities
Zambia's official ceremony listings record three separate ceremonies named Malaila, held by Kunda, Chishinga and Bisa communities in Eastern, Luapula and Muchinga provinces respectively, none of them among Ila communities in Namwala District as given here. A Namwala-specific, Ila-associated Malaila could not be independently confirmed.
Zambia's Ministry of Tourism and Arts traditional ceremony listings record the name Malaila attached to three different, geographically separate observances: a Kunda ceremony held under Senior Chief Nsefu in Mambwe District, Eastern Province, each August; a Chishinga Malaila held under Senior Chief Mushota in Kawambwa District, Luapula Province, each October; and a Bisa Malaila held under Chief Nabwalya in Mpika District, Muchinga Province, also in the September to October window.
